I think I like this one more than some of Korn's older albums because of its length. Some of them are just exhausting.

Yeah, so this isn't bad at all. Kind of a surprise.
As for the lyrics... Atrocious as always.
It's not necessarily because he's singing about personal issues. That's always fine by me. There's artists that do it well. JD is the type that doesn't do it well. A good comparison is some of Chino Moreno's lyrics. Sometimes they are personal, but he actually has a way with words. It ends up being the difference between a guy with personal problems talking to you in a calm and soft-spoken way compared with a guy who is having a mental breakdown and can't stop saying cringey edgelord shit.
JD could use some therapy for this shit, then he can actually try to be an artist with his words. Rather than merely writing down whatever angsty shit crosses his mind about things that piss him off. Bounce his problems with an understanding person, come away with some perspective and wisdom about it, then start the writing process. They'll probably be a million times more interesting and introspective. Think Tool here... Angsty shit, but actually introspective and deep as well with nuggets of wisdom plastered throughout their discography. I'd just like to hear him intellectualize his emotions and articulate himself better because he comes off like a stunted teenager.
Outside of my lyrical gripe, I still dig the actual vocal performance.

He sings out of tune and his awkward lyrics often don't fit the vocal rhythm which often throws off the choruses. Imo his performance is pretty far into lackluster territory. But then again that's par for the course with this album in general.

Good call zaruyache. Shouldn't have said 'performance' when I was really thinking of the actual sound of his voice. His screams sound good and his singing sounds good.

this is solid, but I'm not really a huge fan of the uber simplistic song structures and occasionally bland clean vocals

I was listening to Korn when they were new, and I stopped thinking they could make a good album ages ago.
Holy shit this is a good one. Yes.

I like anything with Head tbh. Korn isn't worth bull without him.

instead of a new Korn album I'd rather have got a thanksgiving themed album called "the serenity of stuffing"

That's the problem with every album on sputnik, bunch of 5's way before the album is released. I feel like if they didn't allow votes until the album is officially out the site would avoid a decent amount of idiots voting just based on their personal opinion on the band.
