they learned from Immolation and Gorguts, whose best albums are Close to a World Below and Obscura

Near Death Condition is an overlooked new band that's similar, and Deathspell Omega has the same pummeling, unpredictable claustrophobia in a more black metally context.

Check out Ne Obliviscaris while you're at it.
