I think this is overrated but it has some great songs. Skeleton tree in particular is fantastic

Only slightly overrated, but yeah

Skeleton Tree is my favourite from Side B, I enjoy the atmosphere of the first four songs best overall though

I'd rank the songs but they're all just about perfect.

"I think this is overrated"
It's been out for like, four days, what the shit are you talking about?

Anthrocene and Distant Sky are probably my least faves from this, and they're still 4.5's as individual songs

So far Girl in Amber, Magneto and Skeleton Tree are the songs I consider 5/5, any more and I'd likely bump my overall rating. Still early days.

What? Of course it does. It applies to all content highly rated, if someone deems it so

OvDeath thinks a piece of art can't be "overrated" because it's quality is 100% subjective, if I'm not mistaken.

And by that you are subscribing to the (often contested) view, that the quality of a piece of art is 100% subjective, no?

you are all gay

Album Rating: 5.0
Obviously all music is subjective, but things can still be perceived as over/underrated based on context. I think most people who cry overrated look at albums with similar merit and feel it doesn't belong alongside those pieces that have had the time to earn legacy points. For example I do not think this is as good as The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me (also a 4.5).

"you are all gay"
I'm very happy indeed. Also heterosexual, but what does that have to do with anythin?
"I think most people who cry overrated look at albums with similar merit and feel it doesn't belong alongside those pieces that have had the time to earn legacy points. For example I do not think this is as good as The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me"
This belief that an album can just HAVE more merit than another, is based on the underlying assumption that there is some kind of objective quality ranking to be made. Otherwise the label "overrated" just doesn't make any sense.

how does it feel to have just entered the 6th grade

Album Rating: 4.5
Thank you Ov, 'objective competence' or 'objective excellence' is not what people are rating here, ratings (and reviews) are 100% subjective
Doesn't make them any less interesting/revealing/useful

"how does it feel to have just entered the 6th grade"
Can't remember, it happened 12 years ago.
"Music absolutely is 100% subjective, it's idiotic to think otherwise."
This is not as uncontested of an opinion as you make it out to be, so I was just probing for clarity.

Well merit is determined by the number of people who share positive subjective opinions of an album, especially over a long period of time.
