You either hate Tom, or you love him.

I love him like a father. lmfao

New ava EP is probably my favorite release from Tom since Boxcar. Overload is so damn good.

Neighbourhoods is awesome imo. Always thought it was great but this record has really cemented it for me.

The last two AvA releases are pretty great. They're the first time since boxcar racer that I've loved something he's done on his own

I think neighborhoods is far and away their worst album. tom didn't even record his songs in the same studio as mark and travis, and it shows in the music: it's just so uninspired and forced. kinda feels like tom just wrote some ava songs and forced them into a blink record. mark's vox were underused as well.

this is far from perfect, but at least it sounds like blink-182. would be better if they cut out a few weaker tracks, but there's some great stuff on here

K just finished my first and probably only listen, there was no reason this needed to be 16 tracks long. Take it down to the couple good songs and a few mediocre songs and release it as an EP and it would have been pretty good. As is, this is really not very good at all. Sad!

i almost completely agree with you. as for me i dont think this would serve well as an ep either. i just think most if not all of the songwriting is borderline poor.

"i wont fall down that fuckin rabbit hole." well looks like they just did

I'm not really sure how you can fault a blink-182 album for "glossy" production or "the pop coming first."

Well of course they've always been poppy but this album stretches it to the max imo.

If you hate Fighting the Gravity you're really just better off listening to only Dude Ranch and completely ignoring how the band evolved because that song's incredible

Speaking of which I have an uber Neighborhoods/Dogs playlist which is like 10x better than either release

To me, on the old Blink albums they were a punk band with pop sensibilities. Here, there is much more of an approach towards actual pop music. Also the production on Enema or TOYPAJ for example I would call "clean", it basically makes the instruments sound as crisp and clear as possible. Here, it sounds like they made things sound clean, and then added a bunch of crap on top of that - excessive layering, 808s, neutering the guitars, autotune, etc. Stuff you would hear on an post-reunion FOB album. That's where I was coming from with those statements.

OK now I'm getting what you're all talking about; this seems to run out of steam pretty quick. After 'Built this Pool' it gets kinda lame. Aforementioned track is a jam, though.

bonafide superior confirmed all-time best Dogs in the Neighborhoods tracklist, for those who care:

1. When I Was Young

2. After Midnight

3. MH 4.18.2011

4: Up All Night

5. HAG Interlude

6. Hearts All Gone

7. Disaster

8. Ghost on the Dance Floor

9. Natives

10. Snake Charmer

11. Dogs Eating Dogs

12. Kaleidoscope

13. Wishing Well

14. Even If She Falls

15. Fighting the Gravity

16. Pretty Little Girl

it is pretty long, I could justify cutting After Midnight and Wishing Well if you wanted a shorter tracklist but I love both those songs so I kept them on
