The best buy here doesn't even sell cds.

Mine used to have way better selection but they dumbed it down a lot. Might just be mine because their other stores apparently have some good stuff

our best buy needs to be informed its not the 90s/mid 2000s anymore because besides the select hits of the current generation all they do is discount really old albums.

Where the hell are you Hopelust? I'm assuming you want a physical copy?

Yes, physical copy. I'd even take a cd at this point. Looking at third party suppliers on amazon.ca right now.
Currently in Saskatchewan, Canada. I was just really surprised that amazon.ca and .com have nothing themselves, thrice's website is out, hmv.ca is out, ebay has nothing remotely affordable... like, did they not produce enough physical copies or is it that popular that it's sold out everywhere?

Why thank you. The issue herein is that with shipping, it comes to $19 american, and converting that to canadian means im paying $25 for a fucking cd. It's a bit ridiculous, but I might have to just suck it up at this point.

That's pretty shitty. Does prime exist in Canada to discount the shipping?

Prime does exist in canada yeah, but you only need to get $25 in your cart to qualify for free shipping anyway, so it doesn't really sell me. I dont use amazon enough in a year to justify paying $80cad/year for it.
The massive issue with amazon.ca is that their stock list & amount along with shipping times vary greatly from the .com site.

Oh, damn. It rules hard here. I could have the cd Wednesday afternoon for $12USD. I buy a ton of comics and books through amazon, so it's worth it for me.

Oh I'm sure it does, lol. But the struggle is real in Canada in terms of getting your hands on music media for reasonable prices. The only music store chain still in existence is HMV and it's more or less a fucking joke.

That blows, man. I've pretty much gone digital with all my music unless it's a pre-order or I pick it up from a live show, but at least I have the option for vinyl and cds from store-fronts.

It does blow, man! It's absurd really. The record store we have averages $35 for a vinyl. I just spent $50 on the new radiohead. Im lookin at $40 for the new converge redux. I blew $90 for alexisonfire's self-titled and converge's AWLWLB.
I wish I could just buy off itunes or download but Im so fundamentally programmed to own something physical it's depressing. When it comes down to it tho, I get angry that my copy of something from iTunes will never sound as good as the CD, or the vinyl, so I just don't bother buying digital anymore... unless I'm desperate and have no other choice. Which is almost the case here with Thrice.

You're a dedicated man. I never noticed a big drop in quality buying digitally, but I've heard many complaints from other users about it too.

I'm with you Hopelust. I've only bought my last 12ish CDs digitally because it's so much faster, and pretty much anything I want I would need to order in.

Yea there was a period where I succumbed to buying a fair amount online, but I just ended up feeling like I was missing out on the full deal. Some of my favourite albums I purchased at that time (Killing the Dream's "Fractures" comes to mind) I just ended up repurchasing because it didn't feel right, not having something tangible that I could hold twenty years down the line, gettin all nostalgic and shit.

Yeah physical copy is much better, but occasionally there's stuff I buy digitally. I've come to the realisation that all the shit I want to hear I either won't hear for a very long time (due to money) or might not ever find a phyical copy of. And the list keeps growing, so that's how I rationalise it, even though I'm still paying for the digital in this case.
