I completely agree, and I think I’ve told Rowan this before, that “I know there’s an answer” is sooo much better a title/chorus than “hang on to your ego”

@RS look neither version is particularly good (there's a reason Wilson got Asher in to write his lyrics) but at the very least Ego doesn't contradict it's first two lines in it's chorus, and doesn't reek of self-help advice from one of the biggest assholes in music history

@Rowan I think you misinterpret the chorus. It's clearly a change of perspective, where now Mike is quoting the mentality of people he's trying to help. You could still think it's heavy-handed but it's consistent.

I might believe that if "I know so many people who say they can do it alone" wasn't also in the original lyrics set, but since it is along with most of the other verses, it's pretty clear that Love just couldn't be bothered properly rewriting it ¯_(ツ)_/¯
