James lost his voice. I'm blessed that mine still sounds like the early 80's. - Geoff

It's just too long and too similar. I find myself digging a lot of the ideas they have, but the awful drumming (wtf is up with the constant double bass rolls??) and runtime just kill it for me. If they just reduced the duration of this and took out some tracks, making it one hour long would make this record so much better.

yeah, the weakest point of the record and the whole band itself is the drummer for sure...

Rudess butchers this one with ridiculous sounds and over the top but boring solos. Also production is beyond bad, songwriting is poor and the concept itself just isn't interesting. Their creativity reached an all time low on here on all levels. I hate to say something like that about a band I'm totally devoted to but I'm sick of hearing Mangini getting bashed. It's def not his fault this is a hard fail.

No, for sure isn't Mangini's fault, he didn't have any say in the writing process I think, Petrucci just gave him wierd, boring drum parts, and the sampling(?) on the snare really doesn't help

Even if Petrucci is coming up with the drum parts, Mangini could at least add SOME flair. He's soo fucking boring

Anyone heard Portnoy's new prog metal band, Sons of Apollo? (Also with Derek Sherinian) They've just released their first single:

Wasn' t too fond of the vocals but man, Bumblefoot' s solo is sick af. Derek' s performance is also pretty great, brings some long missed vibes. This might indeed be something decent.

My mom's a big DT fan (Images is one of her favorite metal albums) and she totally fucking cringed when I had her hear some of the stuff on this album. Lol

Yeah, this is definitely cringe-inducing, especially when you take the rose-tinted DT glasses off.
