Ost, I'm suprised you've noticed a difference between this and the EP. They are very similar to me.
|
| |
well musically the EP is just a lot more straight forward stuff, also because of the cover obviously. regarding the production im a bit cautious to comment , since i dont have the full length or LP on physical and only srteamed it when i listened. but i just cant get into the LP and i can't really pin it down. but im pretty stoked if there will be another full length from them and how it turns out.

Any of you gentlesirs got any recommendations for DM similar to this?
I'm gradually switching away from black metal and am getting more into modern death metal / OSDM revival stuff, but don't really know many bands worth the effort to check. I'm a big fan of these guys, Chapel of Disease (Mysterious Ways...), Obliteration and Tomb Mold.
Btw, this album fucking rips. I played Dead Space 2 to this album so often. The growling/gurgling creature sounds suited the DS2 atmosphere of 'something could jump out the wall any second now' perfectly.

"Thy Darkened Shade - Liber Lvcifer I: Khem Sedjet. "
excellent album but I'd sooner recommend Deathspell Omega - Synarchy of Molten Bones as being more similar.

Yeah I'm trying on like the 5th year to be a DO fan. With mixed success.
TDS is way easier to digest for me. I think it's the excellent bass work that ties it to this album for me.

TDS is pretty straightforward, yeah. Each Deathspell Omega album has a unique identity which I love. It's really amazing. Shit the bass work and drums on the new album are insane.
As for Chthe'ilist... the crepuscules are delicious

DO is clearly an awesome band, but it's so cold and I can't get the structures of their songs. I like the more organic feels of this and TDS.
But one day I will get the lyrics to Synarchy and play it on repeat until it fucking clicks.
