Man you have absolutely no idea the wonderfully intense and emotional ride you’re in for. Just hang in there for Weight xD

it's one of the more unique albums in post-metal. really deserves more recognition.

It’s dope, but in context to the band it’s just not the same. It’s awesome but it lacks the intricate, focused, massive and emotional nature of all the succeeding ones.

idk about seeing it in that light, seven, but it does need more recognition. it’s a supremely solid sludge record.

The t/t has such a cool vibe to it, as well as the quieter moments

It’s like the pinnacle of their early doom/sludge before they transitioned into their more atmospheric and melodic sound. Their early stuff is just as important and I enjoy it just as much

@Relinquished it's a more holistic experience -- strongest as a whole before Isis moved into buildup/climax dynamics within single movements, but still foreshadows the coming tide of post-metal. Each song introduces one or two musical ideas, breaks them apart over the course of several minutes, and reassembles them to give new insight into the direction of the album. I hated "Deconstructing Towers" the first time I heard it, but now it's my favorite next to the t/t. It's a song of unstoppable entropy, where the motif crumbles into chaos and takes your sanity with it. The album steadily breaks down its own fortress walls until Gentle Time arrives like a supernova -- the ultimate climax on an album that refused to yield until the very end.

I love everything the band has ever done but this is definitely their most primitive record.

It is a different side of them but it makes so much sense when looking at its position in their discography.

Recently I have been listening to Mosquito Control and The Red Sea. They're awesome EP's.

it's just one show in LA, as part of a memorial for Caleb Scofield (RIP). but they'll be playing with Cave In, Pelican, and Old Man Gloom, so it might be worth a trip
