yeah it's pretty boring.
When King released I was hoping they would at least return to the sound they had on One instead of trying to hard to sound pretty. Turns out I was wrong.

Toon, don't crush my hype. Is Smile the single version or the soundcloud?

New album is better than this in terms of quality, but my god some ideas need to be fleshed out. Orbital is fucking gorgeous and could've been way more than what it is. I like the reference to Lament tho. Juno is easily my favourite.
"Toon, don't crush my hype. Is Smile the single version or the soundcloud?"
No, it's basically the single with a longer intro, same structure and a padded outro like the album version of Nocturne has, sounds a lot better though.

literally the last third of Smile is nothing but an outro, dare I say the previous version was better than the current one.
King and Juno are good tracks though, it's just everything else is bland af.

I’m sure the new one is Tesseract being Tesseract, as per usual.

Smile's last chorus. They were mixed really low in the single version but they're front and centre in the album version. Wish Dan screamed more his voice has a real harsh timbre to it that cuts through and it's really satisfying.
After reading through some interviews it's interesting to note that the band don't really seem too amazed by their album, at least Dan in part wishes they had more time on it and are persistent that the best is yet to come. I truly do believe they have the potential to make a masterpiece, they really come into their own when they're doing movements instead of specific songs so I think a concept album would really be up their alley and could put a lot of their strengths on show.

I still feel like altered state was a masterpiece.

So if even if they didn't like the new material they had, they just released it just for the sake of putting new music out since it's been 3 years since Polaris came out?

I think they like what they released, but they just wished they had more time to write. It's shorter than 40 minutes, if they had more time it would be longer, because they would have more songs they liked

I mean they had a 3 year album cycle to write. I don't mind the record being short it just feels dry.

I haven't listened to Sonder yet, but I don't think they don't like their album themselves. It seems like their label set them a deadline and they had to hand it in
