Not gonna lie, having a hard time getting into the new album. Comes off as very homogeneous, and the hooks on here and bloom are way better. Some great moments for sure tho. Hoping it grows
Also, does the opener not remind anyone of "no car's go"? Every time it starts I'm half-expecting to hear arcade fire.

peter kember basically twisting this band into atmosphere n sonics first and songs second makes for a really good listen, i think its an adjustment thing though, even the most 'boring' beach house songs have the most airtight melodies. this is (generally) goin for a different thing, so props to kember, even if i hate that guy, cos the album sorta slays without actually having that many hooks.
girl of the year is unbelievable though

On first spin, I’m very, very mixed on 7 but it could grow. Agreed that there’s a new emphasis on sonics and I’m not sure how well they’ve pulled that off. Pay No Mind is the best.
