Oooh welcome to a big and beautiful side of cinema, here are some other recs for oldschool jap flicks (besides the really obvious ones): Sword Of Doom, Hara Kiri, Woman In The Dunes, The Face of Another, Blind Beast, Funeral Parade Of Roses, Branded To Kill, High And Low, Gate Of Flesh and finally Eros + Massacre (beware, this last one is immensly rewarding/probs my fav jap movie but a tough find/watch).
Also seen as you seem to be a bit of a romantic I'll also rec two more recent cult classics that should very much please you: All About Lily Chou Chou as well as Eureka (Aoyama's one, another hard watch/find)

no one was fetishizing anything (don't think that's a word but fuck you), so calm down and talk about how good this album is but Mars 2027 kinda drags but it has that sick guitar part near the end that makes you think it's way better than it was
