Oncoming Storm >
but this one is close

Eyes of Fire for me.

The Oncoming Storm is my favorite for nostalgia reasons, but this is their best, easy.

The first 30 seconds of Never Cease is some of the most hype shit I've ever heard. Pierce is such a monster on those drums.

Saw these dudes when they were touring this record in a dive bar in South Florida. It was easily one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Man, I bet an up close and personal small space show with theses guys, especially for this album, would be fuckin nuts

Oh man, you have no idea! The set was just insane and they had Jordan from AILD filling in on drums, which was just killer as he's a beast behind the kit.
Surprisingly, they only played 2 songs from Watchers, and the rest were classics from Oncoming Storm, Eyes of Fire, and The March.

That is a little odd. I bet The Swarm was one of them, right? That was the first thing I heard before I bought this
Was the show before the album was actually released? Mebbe they were only playing pre release material or something

It was in 2017, so a few years after this record came out but before they had released anything off their latest record. They played The Swarm and To The Ground.
It was a shame because I remember Trevor saying "Who here has our latest record, 'Watchers of Rule' ?"...It was pretty quiet in the crowd; felt like a lot of people were there to see them play older stuff. Personally, I think it's why their latest record changed direction a bit to cater more toward live shows. While I think this album rips, I just don't think they got the response they wanted at live shows.

Aw, that sucks
That def would make sense with the change up from this to Extinction, tho, if that was happening a lot

This is Unearth on steroids so idk how fans couldnt appreciate this
|
| |
That kind of thing happens not because they wouldn't like it, but bc the band didn't have the same hype and marketing at that point so the fans at shows were older fans that may not have kept up with new material.

i saw these guys probably 6 or 7 times between 03-06ish and they killed it live every time
this album rules but it came out 10 years after i was really into this type of music so if i caught them now i wouldn't be as familiar with this stuff as the older stuff either

It could be a bit of both for sure. The marketing on Watchers was definitely not like it was when 'Oncoming Storm' came out...I remember seeing them on Headbangers Ball on MTV, and they were on Ozzfest too. Lots of hype around them back then.
Even then though, I don't think the band enjoyed playing the songs from Watcher live. Check out this interview with Trevor right before Extinction came out.

Both times I've seen them since this dropped they played Never Cease, which is like legit top-5 Unearth.
Ken talked in interviews about how underappreciated they felt after putting this album out. It clearly shreds the competition, as most of their catalog has done, but they didn't have sing-along choruses like AILD and KSE, or frat house wardrobes like ABR.
It's a shame, but even though they are (imo) firmly in the big-4 of metalcore, and on some days I'd call them the best, they just never have and never will get the push they deserve. I've been expecting they'd call it quits for most of the past five years.

I don't think they will call it quits anytime soon. They clearly love playing and you can see it in their live performances. Honestly, I think they need to find a producer like Kurt Ballou to help them refocus what made them so popular 10-15 years ago. I mean, look what Darkest Hour did with their latest release.
I don't think they'll ever become as big as KSE or ABR is, but they can still retain a sizeable fan base.

" I mean, look what Darkest Hour did with their latest release."
Funny you mention that band cus they were the guys that popped up in my head when Guy was talking about how Unearth never got the push they deserved. Both incredible bands with classics that will probably stay underappreciated til the end.
