Portal 2 ftw. Nah, but I honestly saw the above comments and thought people were discussing the
band not this band's previous album. Silly me. It's that damn herb

Painters of the Tempest is definitely metal song of the year

I know it's not that true, but first song and last song, if put together, sound quite like an uninterrupted one.

I don't like Blackholes quite as much as Painters of the Tempest and Pyrrhic, but if I did oh man would this be great.

How much black metal is on this one?

Album Rating: 4.5
Not much. I'm hearing quite a bit of influence from groups like Fates Warning and some classic melo-death when it comes to the riffs and melodies, but it's more extreme. My only real disappointment with this is the lack of the folk influence that was so heavy on the demos and the debut.

A lot of this sounds like Opeth's earlyish stuff, in a good way

The clean vocals have improved! OMG :D and that violin is just boss. Besides that, while staying interesting it's definitely got the 'focused and refined' vibe that just nags. hmmm
