The Lack Long After is the best album ever so yeah.

"you might have a different reason for thinking so but most people think just because it's not as loud as TLLA that it's boring. I'd be interested to hear if you have a different opinion though"
There are some decent moments but for me the album is a mostly static experience with little in the way of ebb and flow, the highs aren't really high enough for my taste. Kyle's vocals are alright but he doesn't have much in the way of range, and it's not really enough to carry the album in an effective way without his screams from previous releases. And yea, the lack of explosive guitar and drum work (and screams) on the album are a pretty common complaint but tbh that was a big part of the band's appeal, so it's kind of justified in that sense. I don't mind a band toning things down a bit if their music is still effective but this doesn't do it for me, the band seems to have found a safe little niche that I don't really see them coming out of. Probably doesn't help that I have a bit of a distaste for modern emo in general.
I do understand why people enjoy this though. I actually think Old Pride is my favorite, but this band isn't really near my faves in the genre.

A very respectable opinion, however:
"It IS pretty upsetting how many people just don't get this album."
"I get it fine, it's just painfully boring."
I'd almost say you DON'T get it if you find it boring.

I dunno, I mean I understand what they were trying to do, so I wouldn't say I don't"get" it. To me that would mean I'm not able to comprehend the music and the intentions behind it, and I don't think Keep You is a complex enough album that it warrants that judgement.
An album similar to this that I do enjoy would be Song In the Air by Elliott. It has obvious differences but it goes more places and has more conviction imo

"i mean both bands went from a more intense sound to a more melodic, restrained sound. less yells/screams from both"
well that's true but that doesn't mean they sound anything alike (the two bands never did in the first place either though). also, rooms of the house easily beats this

this is one of the best things to come out of the mostly garbo emo revival scene. very 90s influenced

This album takes longer than their previous, that's just a fact. If you like it less, no problem, but give it a few spins because it is a pretty massive shift from what you hear in their prior albums.
