Coyote is ok but my least favorite I think, or Blasphemy. I much prefer this, Phobos, and obviously Hubardo to the late 2000s/early 2010s stuff.

Coyote is the precursor to Toby making Gamma Knife, and Hubardo. He wanted to take that bass tone from Coyote, and apply it to metal. He said in an interview he had never heard that before. Gamma Knife was a DIY recording, but then Toby wanted to take that a step further and pull out all the stops on a top quality recording for that style they were working on, so we got Hubardo. Then the reason they made this album was they were so drained from the process of Hubardo, they wanted to have a bit more fun - something more light. It was also a departure from what was going on in the NYC music scene at the time. According to Toby there were a lot of bands that weren't necessarily metal bands making metal albums, so he wanted to do something different.

This is waaayyy better than I recall and/and my sensibilities have changed. Longtime Disturbance... a dud tho. Assassination of Adam fucks
|
| |
This one is considerably weaker than I remembered. Adam is one of the best songs though yep
|
| |
Weaker album agreed. Doves and Library probably my favorite tracks. Nothing actively off putting here but generally a little boring overall.
|
| |
Yeah hmmm I like this one a lot sometimes, but it has a habit of hitting on a good thing and then going straight into autopilot. Would probs be higher on my kayochart if I was a stoner idk
|
| |
eh not quite a 2, The Mortality of Doves saves it. Could do without tracks 2-4 though

If anything Assassination of Adam is my least fave because the mixing on it is kind of weird and sounds too metal.
|
| |
2 thru 4 are probably the worst, although 2 is v good
3 is boring and 4 nee naws itself to senselessness

3 is my fave on the whole album lol but whatever. Never got why people didn’t like that one it is probably the one that takes my brain to Blade Runner visions the most!

I guess I disagree w both because for me Library Sub is by far the most “mystical” and lucid dream sound song track in the whole thing. Sounds like space m8

Although I will say the structure on four is the weirdest but it seems to work I always liked songs that don’t follow basic structure, gets really interesting that way. Every part includes great rhythm and synth arrangements. There’s just not a part where I’m not in total awe w those songs I guess but I get if people don’t like em ir enjoy them that much

With 3 all I got to say is who knows why people don’t like that one. Maybe you could fill me in because it does seem like the one people dislike but for me, that is Toby’s perfect pop song. It has a chorus verse chorus set up and it seems like Toby was trying to make the perfect pop track with that. Lush and atmospheric. Honestly made me think of bands from the 80s cocktail. It’s a super classy song in addition to being beautiful.

3 is better than the other two because it's short and doesn't have a mind numbing coda.
