"Bands like this, The Contortionist, Born of Osiris, etc"

Yeah, all three bands are quite different, actually.

Never said they sounded exactly the same. They just all fall in a similar category of boring overproduced wankfests imo.

Where did Hawks say they were similar? Just him pointing out some bands he doesn't get.

He didn't say they were similar, he just grouped them together is all.

yea he implied they all have something in common, I just didn't think he meant "boring overproduced wankfest" because that category seemed too broad to me since there's so much of that shit in modern metal, but yea ok. I usually hate that stuff too, but this album is pretty unique and interesting, kinda wanna hear more stuff like it. it has always seemed like an unfulfilled potential to me. was really hyped for their last one, sadly it turned out to be a disappointment.

obv my opinion is skewed here, but I never got the wankfest feeling from Fallujah.

This album fucking rips. Overproduction is usually a sin, but in the case of this ultra atmospheric prog tech death type shite, it works SOOOOO well imo

idk i generally don't care THAT much about "overproduction" but here it's pretty awful. the songs here are good but it's virtually unlistenable for me.

Think I like this a little more than Dreamless (and still have no issue with the production...)

I just feel it shredding my eardrums if I'm listening loud.

Yo Chemical Cave And Alone with you are fucking amazing. This can be a bit wanky but I adore the atmosphere of this so it’s mostly forgiven. I have no problem with the production either I like it.

This album is way better when you're listening to it and the weather is warm.

Never mind - can't get through the album without wanting to listen to just about anything else

I think the production is great on this, too many people complaining about it. Crystal Cave is so gorgeous.
