Been really stuck on the first half of this because it flows so well, and I’ve realized how equally as well the back half flows on the past few listens. Something about the violin melody on the final track is so cathartic and impactful after such an angular and dissonant listen throughout. And then to have them revisit it hard as fuck at the end. 5 city man, absolutely brilliant

Apart from this album being very good, these guys remind me a lot of Morbus Chron for some reason. Similar stoner-like quality to the music

It took me so long to get past that initial 3 track run because it flows so well. I would just play those on a loop. but the second half fucks too, esp the closer

oh yeah the closer is incredible, like a descent into hell. but it really does just flow incredibly as one song.

idk if u gotta top this for that sentiment to hold, personally prefer this album to narcosis too but narcosis is such an absurdly intriguing record sounding like little else while being pristinely put together, band's creativity is off the charts and no one else is gonna scratch their specific itch

Friendly reminder this is the best Black Metal album of the 2010s along Dodheimsgard's 'A Umbra Omega'

There's definitely an argument to be made for this one. I don't know the other, but I'll check it out- their 2023album was the first I'd heard and it was great.

The jazzy clean part in where I end and the hemlock begins into that crazy drone tremolo straight back into the descending riff with blasts is like the most mind blowing shit, how do you even write this

Best bm album of the 2010s yeah. Crazy songwriting. Only thing close to DsO mastery of the craft.

Have we ever found out who the members are?

If you mean Deathspell, every member is pretty much identified at this point except for the drummer (who is insane btw). If you mean Thantifaxath they are still unknown but if you ever see them live you may see their faces. When I saw them live last year they absolutely killed it. At the end they removed their hoods and they looked like a bunch of goofy ass canadians who like to have fun. One of them removed his shirt and run towards the other side of the concert hall screaming aloud while laughing. It was very funny tbh and they seemed pretty nice people.

this is really quite an album but unfortunately I docked it points for being attached to a linguistically cumbersome band name

Once again posting into the void about how remarkable this record is
