it even works when you consider their next album leaning less post-hardcore and more experimental like Thrice did for a bit

Couple listens in and I'm still not sure how I feel about this lol. There's definitely some good stuff here, but also some stuff I don't like as much lol. I'd probably give it a 3 or 3.5 if I rated it right now, but I'll give it some time and see if it grows.

Planning a Prison Break is awesome. May actually prefer their second album though. For me it has more highlights — Oubliette, Heir of Empty Breath, the Salesman Husband Lover, and of course The Crop and the Pest, their best song.
