The Vocalist is enough to make me not even give this a chance. Dream Theater syndrome.

The lyrics of this album break my heart with how bad they are. Easily the greatest weakness of this album for me.

I'm surprised how many people have serious qualms with the lyrics here. Who listens to Protest the Hero for the lyrical content? Sure, I get that Fortress had more badass ones-- but I find that the tunes here make the sometimes sub-par lyricism worth it. And shit, they're hilarious in songs like A Life Embossed. Whether or not that was intentional on their part, I don't know, but I'm able to at least make the most out of it, for better or worse.

From what I heard, the lyrics weren't the problem for me.
