I haven't heard Fear Of A Blank Planet, but in my opinion Lightbulb Sun and Deadwing, while being decent, are awfully overrated. The hype wasn't that huge for The Incident when I heard it, so that's probably why I enjoyed it a bit more.

The Incident is really boring. "Time Flies" is all you need from that one.

"I haven't heard Fear Of A Blank Planet"

I advise you not to change that.

I'm aware of some of the lyrics on it, though.

TV, yeah it's always on
The flicker of the screen
A movie actress screams
I'm basking in the shit flowing out of it

I'm stoned in the mall again
Terminally bored
Shuffling round the stores
And shoplifting is getting so last year's thing

X-box is a god to me
A finger on the switch
My mother is a bitch
My father gave up ever trying to talk to me

Some of the lyrics are the weakest aspect of Fear, give it a listen since the first few songs are among the band's best.

Yeah, the music on it is really well executed.

Agreed, I love the title track (and the whole album for that matter) but it has some notoriously daft lyrics.

You don't have to listen to the whole album, but I'd advise you to still check "Anesthetize", a three part "prog meets post-rock meets dark ambient" epic, "Sleep Together", an unusual song that bridges King Crimson, Nine Inch Nails and a string section, and "Sentimental", a cute little ballad that toys with lo-fi production and distortion. The rest is skippable, although always admirable instrumentally.

"an unusual song that bridges King Crimson, Nine Inch Nails and a string section"

That description makes it sound even worse than it actually is.

Fear Of A Blank Planet is a great album. The lyrics are laughable, but that's part of the charm.

The final stretch of the t/t in fear are the best lyrics on the album

It may sound like a shitty excuse, but I actually like how bad the lyrics are on Fear of a Blank Planet. They sorta give the record a grungy vibe because of their apathetic nature, and they can create a certain atmosphere at times

This and lightbulb sun are pinnacle of Wilson. Maybe the Raven is up there too.
