"I was ten years old when my grandparents on my father's side

celebrated the 50th anniversary of their marriage

Our family piled into our tan '85 Aerostar

(the same one that famously died on the way to my

younger sister's dance recital when the entire drive shaft

dropped out from underneath and shot

like a torpedo down the open highway)

and made the three hour climb to Cadillac

There was a reception held at the local V.F.W. hall

where my grandfather was a member

I remember meeting a lot of strangers

whose names or faces were either immediately lost

or never registered at all,

and how they would all tell us how excited they were

to meet us

Do you know how two trees can grow together and become like one?

When my grandmother died, my grandfather died too

It took two whole years to convince his body to let him go"

Holy fuck I'm crying, reminds me so hard of my grandfather's funeral

yak: if that's artistic then any 14 year-old boy can pick up a mic and start whining shit into it like 'MY WORLD BLEEDS BECAUSE YOU LEFT ME' and people would see it as authentic emoting or whatever. being 'raw' or 'real' or whatever =/= mean inherently good

what is the difference? it's executed exactly as i explained it: whiny, out of tune shit. now, being out of tune isn't always bad but again i say it is when you sound like a preteen who's attempting to sound 'deep' or whatever.

also you're so cool for disliking drake, man.

"On New Year's Eve last December,

I was out on tour playing a show at the Fire in Philadelphia

while you were all alone at home

(the only body occupying our lonely apartment)

I watched the TV through the window from outside the bar

and counted down the seconds to the new year with you

over the phone

But I couldn't kiss you at midnight

I couldn't hold you in my arms

The sound of your voice was weighted,

like the way a branch heavy with snow bows down

before it breaks

Is this still worth putting our lives on hold for?"

my fucking god these lyrics

lol dude I like Drake, but his lyrics are shit and he's immature and most of his songs are about how he doesn't understand his emotions

yeah gyro ur argument is so dumb because it's obviously more than just some kid yelling into a mic and if u rlly can't see any appeal in his yelled vocals than i don't think u rlly 'get' music with vox like that which pretty much just nullifies ur entire argument

i dont understand how anyone could find meaning in drake's vocals but not in keith's.

and i don't hate drake bcuz it's 'cool' i hate him bcuz he's horrible

see, that's a bullshit stereotype, treb. drake speaks about the idea of using people for business transactions. his lyrics are kind of catty and witty beneath the surface, and at times he seems kind of misanthropic. there's a lot more to his music and one would be forgiven for thinking otherwise given the amount of drake hate circulating the net

listen to over my dead body and tell me how you can possibly think that music is horrible.

and i've listened to (and continue to listen to) a lot of emo, like gospel and other bands, and they do the genre much more justice than the sloppy as fuck yelled vocals on here. i would still prob give this a 3.5, just some moments like the one i pointed out are like nails on a chalk board. and liking music has absolutely nothing to do with 'getting' it get off your high horse

drake's lyrics are honestly way better than some of the banal melodrama crap you posted on the last page
