i stopped liking this band when i was 16. i will defend their old stuff and their live performance to death tho

i'm giving this my first full playthrough since this morning since i was in a hurry for class and was half asleep but 4 songs in it's really not THAT bad. the comments i see in this thread make me wonder what it would take a7x making for it to not be automatically "shit" or a 2 or whatever. they definitely aren't the most innovative band in the world nor the most likable cus of fans (i'm looking at everyone who 5'd this) but it's nowhere near worse than like, an Issues album. or a motionless in white album. it's just always seemed that people HAVE to make everyone aware that they don't like avenged sevenfold over and over again and it's annoying.

with all of that being said this is prolly a 2.5-3 tho

I'm not sure if I should bump this or drop s/t. I know this is better, but I feel they're pretty much on the same level, it's only a slight preference.

i kinda like Requiem and i kinda like Heretic

i do have a few initial problems with this album though
1 being a lot of the lyrics
2 being the drumming (seriously why didn't they just get peter criss?)
3 being the overwhelming familiarity with songs Crimson Day (don't cry by GNR) and This Means War (sad but true or anything by metallica)
4 being the guitar parts being so fucking lazy when everyone knows they can shred when they want to. they just got lazy

I don't know whats worse, the self titled album, or this. Nightmare showed SOME promise in response to their old fans, but this is still just mediocre, and not even at best. What a POS. What happened to solid metal from Waking the Fallen, and the freshness that came in City of Evil? Disappointing to see such potential deteriorate into, whatever the hell Hail to the King is...
