You gotta consider the fact that Sabbath hasn't really made straight-up doom/sludge since MoR, so it's kinda cool seeing them harken back to their classic sound.

It's cool yeah but not as enjoyable/entertaining. I could just listen to Master of Reality if I wanted this style.

These are like the longest songs they ever wrote. I love the epic, apocalyptic vibes this album has

Not really a good thing tbh.
And yeah Jac I think you would, especially Never Say Die!, that album has some seriously good moments.

Sounds like a good idea.

I'm sorry but I don't quite agree with you, Jamie. I agree that Never Say Die is far better than Technical Ecstasy but they both sound lazy, rushed and uninspired. On the other hand, 13 tries to recapture the vibe of their classic albums, namely the first 3. Sure, it's not as good as those first three albums, but it's pretty damn good in its own right and it contains some of the best Sabbath tracks in ages. Plus, Brad Wilk kicks some brutal ass in here.

No need to apologise. Personally I don't see how they sound lazy seeing as they were experimenting with styles they'd never tried before. Also for me Bill Ward's performance on NSD! is easily better than the drumming on here.

I love that Forbidden isn't any more their last album.
|

I like this more than any of their ''classic'' records.
