i love the song myself but i can kinda see why it's not that popular. it's just not that immediately unique and captivating compared to stuff like "idioteque" or "let down". you could almost say it's just an inferior version of "pyramid song" if you were trying to be mean

I've always found this a struggle to sit through. Radiohead deflated.

"Sail to the Moon" is in the bottom 20% of Radiohead songs for me tbh.

I think it's in the upper half of this album

Ok bottom 20% is a bit harsh but I'm not a huge fan.

This just doesn't hold up as well as any of their other non-Pablo albums.

Bends >>> this

Bends is a lot better than this, there are five or six good songs here but only one certified classic (Wolf at the Door)
|
| |
The Bends only has two classics really though. I mean you look back at the Bends and you think "oh wow Blackstar" "oh wow Planet Telex" "Oh wow Just" but then you remember that this is Radiohead and that those songs, while great, probably crack the top 40 at best. Fade Out and Fake Plastic Trees are probably the only songs from the Bends that are needed in the Radiohead catalog, even though I would say those other 3 are classics in their own right.

ALA I can agree with that pretty much, I just think The Bends has an overall great atmosphere and adds up to more than the sum of its parts. The lesser songs like Nice Dream and Bullet Proof are perfect in their own way, never going to steal the show but they're still great for the album as a whole.
This is the opposite, the atmosphere is flat and the good elements are buried so it ends up adding to less than it could have done.

I can see where you're coming from and somewhat agree. On the Bends you had those nice side tracks like Nice Dream... very good track for the album.

For me I just don't dig their pure alt rock stuff as much as stuff starting with OKC
