Yeah the drumming is sick. I don't get why people are saying " you should not go into this thinking it's black metal" . this is still very much a black metal album despite all the other elements and how prevalent they are

the speed, the aggression, the techniques they use. the vocals to me, sound like a mixture of both black metal and screamo. the fact that they are high pitched makes it easy for them to be seen in both lights.

RYM charts update with Sunbather 3.90/220 ratings being #1 for 2013 and 3073 overall....now its 3.81/239....gotta love assholes who don't even listen to the album and downrate.

At least you don't see that much of that here.

how do you even know that's what happened, maybe they just didn't like it as much. it's still a good average for rym.

I've been on RYM for 6 years, it's what ALWAYS happens to 'esoteric albums' as RYM calls it (high score low number of rating). Every rating is 3.5-5 up to it being on the top of the chart, soon as it is, you look at 'recent ratings' and it's all .5-1.5's

Also, Wizard, to me its not so much the vocals that define the screamo influence but more the chord choice, rhythmic patterns, and production that make me think of Envy or Mesa Verde.

And finally, someone comes at me with some sort of constructive criticism rather than quoting me on one line and trying to create an argument out of it. Thank you for clarifying the screamo aspect with me, I'm not super familiar with the genre to begin with.

dude.

And don't kid yourself trying to defend this album, they do look strikingly similar.
i feel like you keep saying things like this that imply criticism. what point were you trying to make using the word "defend" if you were "not attacking this for using the same motive as Boris"
