Loved it at first. Really grew off me. Can barely stand to listen to it anymore. Also, these guys were sub-par live.

Kinda same, I had been fucking stoked for this album before it came out, but right now I have almost forgotten it exists. Not a very well written album.

Well, Exoplanet could also have been quite a bit better to be honest. Several songs went overboard with the soulless chugging. Primal Directive, Flourish and the Exoplanet trilogy were amazing, though. I'm really waiting for what they come up with next. I certainly appreciate the jazzy direction, but their songs need to stop being such clusterfucks.

Hope the next Contortionist album is a cross-mix with LCTR's Level 2.

That would be pretty good. Speaking of LCTR, their new album isn't as bad as people made it out to be.

I agree, it's different but still good for what it is. Honestly, I was expecting something more crazy and catchy as a follow up to Level 2. But I still like Level 3.

I had a feeling they would try and add some more progressive elements and in some songs it worked really well. Cosmos: Patterns Form and The Escapist were great

This is actually one of those albums that is an absolute chore to listen to due to the highlights being so few & far between & heavily interspersed with some painfully mediocre moments. The rather average production doesn't help either.

Holomovement, Causality & Cortical are the only redeeming tracks that as a bit of a fanboy make it too hard for me to give it a 3 - but in reality it probably deserves that rating. So inexplicably disappointing considering the heights Exoplanet reached. I hope they can pull their shit together on the next one, cuz this was admittedly a pretty dire effort coming from one of my favourite bands.

These guys were pretty sick live. Translated alot better than their studio work. The lighting set-up and fog were perfect for it as well, being stoned it made it pretty trippy. Was there to see Architects but they dropped off the last two weeks of the tour, but the girl at the door gave me a 2 for one for me and my friend who were disappointed and uniformed. Protest The Hero didn't sound that great though, left half-way through their set

This album was such a fuckin' letdown compared to Exoplanet. Sure it's cool to experiment with things and while it's a good album stand alone to other releases, it's pitiful next to Exoplanet.
