So many memories with this album. There was this Norwegian foreign exchange student during my last year of high school that I was really good friends with, he got me into this album a couple of days after Skyrim was released, and we hung out so many times at my house over the course of those next couple of months dropping mushrooms to this and a good chunk of the Isis discography, trying to play Skyrim and Dragon Quest, but failing each time because we were so captivated by the music. I became completely straight edge after I graduated and still am to this day, but holy fuck, those were some incredible experiences that I wouldn't trade for the world, and mushrooms with dense, atmospheric as fuck metal soooo perfectly complement each other. Every fan of post/sludge metal should try it at least once for sure, if you're willing to try psychedelics that is.

Yeah, I don't actually like djent, but the atmosphere on this album is great. It definitely has some post-metal elements (take Frost, for example)

Nice, this seems like it would be a great trip album. My memories of this are mostly walking home at night in the winter jamming it.

It definitely is, and I am so envious of my friend, getting to do this in Norway with the northern lights as a fairly common backdrop.

Finale kills me every time. Probably one of the best instrumental metal songs I've heard. And it's even weirder because it just repeats.

I love Finale too, it sounds glorious and is a perfect outro.

Yeah, the last two tracks are absolutely the best. That's the best use of 8-string guitars I have ever heard as well

It's boring, repetitive, irritating, and not good

First song rules hard but then yeah it gets super repetitive and is way too long agreed.

I never want to listen to this album again for rest of my life, that's how bad of an impression I have from this, this is one of the only djent albums I actually hate

Wow...this is one of like 5 djent albums I actually love (weird cause Meshuggah is my favoirte band lol)
Why do you hate it so much? I think it has a pretty strong atmosphere, vocals are on point, instrumentals are all very interesting without being overly technical or overly breakdown-y, etc - I don't really have any problems with this that I can think of except for maybe the length

It is stop-start jerky I can't even describe it, it is very annoying for me to listen to, I don't like how they transition between time signatures, it's jagged and rough and I don't enjoy listening to it in the slightest, and the rhythms are "uneven" (pardon the pun) af, maybe that's why they're called uneven structure, cause these structures are so UNEVEN it makes me angry, it does not flow well to me, the ghost notes are irritating to me, never knew there was a way to over-use ghost notes in djent but these guys take the cake, the 7 minute outro is unnecessary and pretentious, this album could have been half the length and served the same impact it would have now with it's almost hour of run-time.(oh, pardon me, the outro is 8 minutes, 8 minutes of nothingness and pointlessness, nice)
(just my opinion, I know there is a lot of people here who love this album, not everyone is gonna love the same things, and it just so happens I don't like this "praised" album)

I have listened to this album 8 times, and I have tried to get into it since it would theoretically be right up my alley, but it just isn't/did not click with me at all, I would take David Maxim Micic over this every day of the week 24/7

Clearly someone has never heard this at the gym
