Jim's a genius [2]

Over time I've appreciated his music SO much more. More personal, relatable & mature

This album has...

- the best FW song ever made

- the best producer ever ensuring one of the best sounding metal records

- a three track run of radio hits - yes they were on the radio back in ‘91

- Alder and Zonder at their pinnacle

Now I get the "i'm afraid to tell you guys my least favorite on here" statement titan. I misread it earlier. OFF WITH HIS HEAD!! :-P Love Don't Follow Me, has a great sense of drive, that pre-chorus/chorus combo is killer, and Frank's solo hnngggg

I don't know my ranking but 11th Hour, Leave the Past Behind, and The Road Goes on Forever are probably my favourites

I’m less than not enjoying this. Does this sound continue on the next few Fates?

Was going through their discog, loved both Perfect Symmetry and Guardian a whole lot. No Exit was amazing too, Spectre great and the debut decent, but too mich Maiden and too little prog hahah. Honestly hate this sound hahah.

What should I check? If there is more like this than I will peobably be better off skipping it.

You like the old classic stuff. If you like Guardian and Spectre, jam some Arch / Matheos. Sympathetic Resonance is the album man.

But listen to Theories Of Flight. Production is stellar and it may be Ray's finest hour.

Alright, sure. I love proggy and heavy stuiff hahah. So extended wanky instrumentals and time wankery are my jam along with heavy riffs.

Like titan said Theories is a must listen (and the Arch/Matheos albums). Apart from that I'd rec A Pleasant Shade of Gray, and you may even like Darkness if you like the heavier side of the band and not this more mellow side

The maiden influence is only on the first couple of albums. The band's sound changes almost on every album so you never really know which one might click
