Whole thing's amazing, personally I prefer the second(ish) half, specifically tracks 5-8 which are all legendary.

Cool man, i'm giving this one another spin. My introduction to post rock was explosions in the sky 'the earth is not...', couldn't help but to feel a bit disappointed at how samey it all sounded. Even gave it a fair chance some months after my first spin and felt quite the same, still a decent album though. But in my second attempt to get into post rock, this was my first pick and well am i impressed.

Well except for talk talk 'laughing stock', which i have known for pretty much a year now and is finally en route to becoming a hard 5.

Dan dude, I myself am only just starting to build up my post rock knowledge as well. Laughing Stock is a hard 5. Sigur Ros rule as well! I personally love The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place (though other Explosions albums are not on the same level). As bubs says, definitely check Godspeed (I need to take that advice myself since I've only heard F#A# Infinity by them, which is amazing).
