"Psalm" and "Prescience" are perfect songs.

I think it's a little too uneven to call it perfect (tho I might have it at a 5, I forget) but so many.... fuk feels

I definitely would not call this album perfect. As amazing as this album is, Samson ventures into corny territory with his lyrics here and there ("The Reasons" probably being the best example), whereas he usually manages to avoid that pitfall.
Left and Leaving, on the other hand, is my runner-up favorite album of all time.

Precience of dawn is their best song. That guitar solo at rhe end is insane

Second-best for my tastes, "Exiles Among You" beats it narrowly, but yeah that solo is a work of art. So much emotion coming from an inanimate object

That's another great one. Benediction also comes to mind; love those harmonies towards the end

Yeah "Benediction" is great. The vast majority of Weakerthans songs are imo

This was the first album of 2017 for me and I'm not even a huge fan or anything but this fuckin clicked hard

Yeah certain to spin this today, remind myself how time's moving and all that. Give this time Row & I guarantee you'll grow to love it.

honestly no album affects me quite like this one, the lyrics never fail to evoke emotions.

this was a bit underwhelming tbh but I bet itll grow once I read more into the lyrics and get used to the album and stuff. kinda sounds like the folky side of bright eyes

it is the lyrics this one. this isn't anything groundbreaking instrumentation wise, but in terms of lyricism in music Samson puts poetry to music so well. I'm sure it'll grow one year Con.
