Idk if I should really get into it too much cause I know you guys love the album. I like the lyrics here a lot, but I find the vocals and melodies lacklustre, especially on the hooks which don’t seem to hit hard enough. Production also alternates between being muddy and clear. It’s definitely still a good alternative rock album though, and Pamphleteer is a great song.

Yeah I can kind of be with you regarding hooks, Samson's are usually pretty subtle especially on this album. Glad you like the lyrics though, to me they just keep getting better with time.

Sing, oh what force on Earth could be

Weaker than the feeble strength

Of one like me remembering

The way it could have been...

She shoplifts some Christmas gifts and a bracelet for herself

And considers phoning home, has some quarters in her hand

But she sits down on the sidewalk and bites her bottom lip

And spends the afternoon willing traffic lights to change...

I've already gushed about it but "Pamphleteer" is a goddamn perfect song.

How I don't know what I should do

With my hands when I talk to you

How you don't know where you should look

So you look at my hands...

Lyrics here are pretty amazing across the board.

Our letters sound the same

Full of all our changing

That isn't change at all

All straight lines circle sometime...

I like “Without Mythologies” well enough (the instrumental is just fine, lyrics are great) but it somewhat ruins what could be a perfect 3 song run in Pamphleteer -> Fire Door -> t/t

it's perfectly placed imo, that run would be so heavy and intense it would dwarf the rest of the album. Without Mythologies is like the act break

without mythologies is such a good little track - not much on its own but i always loved it's unique vibe esp. as a break on the album
