because division and TAE are solid 4's, and this is at least a point less than them

Ahh, the pitfall of comparison. Grasshopper say you should judge each album on their merits.

But I like their last 2 significantly more than this

Ditto. Maybe you have under-rated their last 2 then.

!0 Years are one of my fav bands but this album really disappointed me big time!! Major steps backwards were taken by the band in making this album but instrument wise is where the band really disappointed me. Funny enough a lot of lovers of mainstream music love it.

Usually, the words "mainstream" & "disappointed"/"backwards steps" unfortunately go together. I guess this is just another one of those cases. It's still enjoyable... It's just that they're capable of better.

You are actually right Daveyboy . I feel like they lost their X-factor in this album although not completely. Jesse's songwriting and some of the song sounded plainly uninspired which is not something I associate tool with this band. That said I also found it enjoyable but like you we all know that they are capable of miles better!!

It's just a matter of getting the balance right. They deserve to be heard by a greater audience, but they also need to do that without taking a backward step. Hopefully, they have learnt from this experience & be better for it next time around.

More like:
I'm fine in the fire
I feed on the friction
I'm right where I should be
Don't try and fix me

Totally agree. If any band is gonna aim for the mainstream, that is how you write a catchy chorus.

I think all this was the band's fault for getting that prick Howard Benson to produce the record. This band is one of my favorites but I will be honest with you if they don't drop that guy in their next album, I will drop the band from my radar for good because this was utterly disappointing for me.
