While not terrible by any means, it's no where near the greatness of the Marshall Mathers or Slim
Shady LPs.
I think the lyricism is great through and through, but some of the beats and choruses just aren't up
to par.
Also the fact that EVERY single song has a chorus irks me.
All this being said Almost Famous is one of the best tracks in his career.

Ok, so this is good, but not amazing. For me some moments come off as really cheesy, (to name a few: the part where he apologises to anyone who he's 'hated' on, the Ozzy sample and Em's off key singing in You're Never Over - heartfelt? somewhat, good? nope -). Idk, it grows on me with each listen and is definitely an improvement on Relapse and the flow and lyrics are mostly much better, but still...
Almost Famous is definitely the best track, can't get enough of the vocal hook for some reason, the female vox are awesooome. Then the untitled track.

Almost perfect.
Tracklist is a little out of order ("Not Afraid" right after "Going Through Changes", makes "not
afraid" even more redundant than it already is, at least in the context of the album.)
"Not Afraid" is a very good single, however; I would've liked for Em to do something even more
unusual, by keeping the 1st lead single off of the default album.
The only song I utterly could not stand, is "You're Never Over". This probably has the only un-
listenable chourus in the album (Em's vocal wails go beyond musically enjoyable or even tolerable
levels) and it doesn't help that the song itself is melodically boring, the lyrics, bloated, &
despite their importance (i.e. concerning Proof), they are not terribly interesting to listen to.
IMO, album would be perfect without "Not Afraid" & "You're Never Over".
Flow is tighened, accents dropped, lyrics have evolved, melodies have been diversified (I don't give
a shit if some of it is too "poppy", as it sounds good & is effective here), & production is varied
(I frankly never understood the obsession over Dre's supposed "production" skills, & felt like after
he helped penned the few stinker songs on Relapse, the man doesn't know what constitutes an
interesting beat anymore).
This album is great because it attempts to make good songs, within the loose concept of a story
hidden in the songs, not bookended bluntly with skits. It sounds like he's had the most effort &
fun put into this album since the first two albums. His swagger & attitude propel the album, & I
would even say he does more experimentation with Recovery than he did with The Eminem Show.
Ending note: "Cinderella Man" keeps making me want to go out & knock out the first person I see on
the street.
