Ghost of Perdition is in itself an absolutely awesome song, but the rest doesn't live up to it.

^^^Exactly my thoughts. Grand Conjuration had the potential, but the last 3 minutes just try waaay too hard to be epic and it's just like "uh-huh" lol.
Watershed is gonna at least beat this (I hope).

I think this album drags a little, and is probably my least favourite opeth release.
I'm kinda the opposite of most. I think this album is their best while BWP kinda drags. BWP used to be my favorite, but the more I listen to their albums this one seems to shine through as the best. There's more variety here than any of their others and it has more interesting moments without being too repetitive like a lot of their other albums. BWP is great, but it does pretty much have the same sound throughout the album whereas this one experiments quite a bit more.
Also, opposite of most, I think Morningrise and My Arms, Your Hearse are the next best.

There definitely is more variety in this album. i like that it helps to change up some of the sound of the album. but i really dont think any opeth ever really drags at any point. sure they might repeat a riff for 2:30 but throughout it there are usually subtle variations and twists on the riff or (usually) in the backround. this album highlighted that aspect of opeth the best, mainly in grand conjuration and harlequin forest, but its been a main staple of opeth since Orchid.
anyways the main point of it is that opeth is the best and their new album is gonna rape some sukkas.
