I like the vocals. I’m not sure what to make of it beyond that. Strikes me as one of those prog albums that (on paper) does a lot instrumentally, yet you listen and think ‘yeah this is quite nice’ without being blown away.

Probably a grower.

I’m also not sure if this bonus (title) track is essential, rejecting it would help bring the lengthy runtime down significantly.

Nice! That sounds at least positive. Anneke's vox here are 💛 agreed.

And there are no bonus tracks, the t/t (final one on the second disk) is part of the original record as the band intended. This is a very long double album, but to me it never feels too long at all.

Maybe I mistakenly read the final track was a bonus track, Spotify calls it the ‘deluxe edition’ - what’s deluxe about it then? Probably an error. I also noticed a slight pause before the final track which made me believe the original album’s runtime had concluded.

I take it 1 hr 43 mins sounds correct to you?

Yes. That's it! Don't listen to Spotify in this case, they've got it all wrong.

And agreed Dave, it is a grower. It's been with me for half of my life now, and I still find new stuff to enjoy here.

‘Probably Built in the Fifties’ is very good. I enjoyed the 2nd half more in general actually (compared to last time), I guess the length must’ve felt like less of a chore to sit through.

Oh no now I want to hear this again! I was working my way through 2021's first releases so nicely today!

Glad this is appealing (more?) to you though Demon.

so, first you need a measuring tape, preferably soft since none is straight and you should consider all of them fold a bit, each in different directions. Oh a planet...right!

That ending of Travel is the warmest and bittersweetest blanket.

I will admit this is remarkably consistent for an album of such unwieldy length. I’m just not getting the huge highs (yet).

I’m guessing you guys are experiencing both, hence your lofty scores.

"I’m guessing you guys are experiencing both, hence your lofty scores."

Yes.

I'm happy you see the consistency here, I think it's incredible how they manage to keep this going throughout. This truly is one big grower though, it certainly gets better the more time you spend with it.
