2009 has been too good when you have to ask yourself if a 4 album belongs in your top 20 or not.

Not for metal, that's for sure.

Album is growing on me alot. Really liking this more and more with each listen.

2009's clunkers include (Amorphis, Katatonia, Porcupine Tree, Wolves in the Throne Room, Chthonic, Anaal Nathrakh, Killswitch Engage, Insomnium, Immortal, Forest Stream, Theatre Of Tragedy, Winds Of plague, Darkest Hour and plenty more.....yeah I agree with Wizard.

The bold indicates failure ; ). This has been a clunker year in the sense that alot of the albums that were released sound awesome at first and become boring quickly; nothing long lasting in my mind. I still need to hear that Katatonia album.

as far as metal in 2009 goes I believe Amorphis, Converge, BTBAM, The Red Chord, Giant Squid, Blackguard, Augury and Behemot can have a place in the top 20.

In addition to whatever other people have, I think Behemoth deserves a nod this year. Evangelion was one "ov" their better albums. Also, the new Megadave... er... Megadeth.

new amorphis was boring as hell. This, Panopticon, Red Chord and Converge are the top 4 for me atm with Anaal Nathrakh, Behemoth, Mastodon, Shining and Sun of the Blind being up there as well although i still need to listen to Ulcerate, Katanonia and funebrarum.

You, sir are a souless man for stating that about Amorphis. And yeah, I forgot Katatonia; haven't rated it yet but so far it's a very solid 4.5.
