I'm in love with this album. The songs have a more intact/stable structure. But the ballads are very sensual and beautiful. I do believe that this is one of the Mars Volta best albums. I've been a huge fan for years, but one of my biggest complaints about the band was the fact that their style redundant and that there wasn't a lot of evolution or variation from album to album. This album is in a similar vein as the others, but they finally switched things up and it still sounds beautiful.

not really. i mean the jump from deloused to frances was unexpected as was bedlam to this, but all their EPs are along the 3/5 albums that are similar, and a lot of frances follows the same path as some of the other albums.
