obviously you all need to get out more often, this is a fantastic album by a band that still have it. i can stand listening to it for hours on end, you all just dont have a good sense of music. you just agree with people to be part of the in crowd. and thats not what Green Day are. they do shit there own way, and if you dont like it well, go fuck yourself, and stop writing garbage on a bad-ass rock opera

I'll have to admit. This CD has grown on me so much. I've listened to it like three times in row the past few days.

"obviously you all need to get out more often" is a great argument for determining the validity of album's awesomenesss

lol
great review, even if I don't agree with you.
Green Day is the kind of band you listen to when you want to hear cheesy pop and power chords. Them not being good is what makes them soo good.

There are numerous tracks on this album that give me that feeling, as well as just about all the tracks on American Idiot. You can i;m deprived, or i have no taste, but the bottom line is that we have assholes comparing bands previous works to the new works, we have dickheads bringing scientific analysis into reviews even when the essential question remains "Is this album good, are the songs on it good". To all the wordy reviewers, no one wants your thesis level bullshit about extensive use of harmony and how it ruins the album, people just want to hear what the band has changed, what has it kept the same, and most of all is it enjoyable to listen to
LOL
dude thats all subjective, what you may find enjoyable others will find obscene. thats why objectivity should prevail in reviews.

"I may get blasted for saying this, but I hope what I'm about to type will provoke some thought. Why don't people on this site as well as critics in general seem to ne unable to grasp the concept of "good music"?"
Maybe because everyone has different musical tastes?
One person may find Opeth the greatest band on earth, and another might hate them and think Iron Maiden are the greatest.

More like a bastard rewrite of The Car's "You're All I've Got Tonight" or "Just What I Needed" only less good

aside from a few great songs, the album is mediocre and has tons of filler. eh, what'd you expect

I agree like 93%, if that even makes sense. I don't agree that 'Christian's Inferno' is even remotely punk. And I don't agree that the lyrics you quoted were completely without sense. They're not deep, so that isn't the problem, they're just very subjective. They actually do make sense, in a lame kind of way. The guy who writes the GD reviews seems to very often say, "This shit makes no sense." Like their song 86, which he said made no sense. Seriously, dude? That song wasn't hard to get.

see dude, if you check the date on that review, it was 2005, which would make me roughly 13.
guess my ability to understand music hasn't gotten much better since then!

ummmm i dont know what the hell is with someone saying that American Idiot was like The Who. it wanted to be like The Who, and tried copying them, and miserably failed. because its pop punk. FAIL.

I don't see why anyones surprized by this... all of Greenday's material sounds the same. All they can play is three chords, and whine the whole time.

yes but back in the day Green Day could make the same sounding material while not pretending to be a band of musical relevance.
In other words, dookie was good. This is bad.
