Cohesive and a movie like experience.... This is an album that sounds like a "3" at first few listens, but after hearing this multiple times an letting it sink in it has become an instant classic in my collection and has raised Mastodon to one of my favorite bands. Those who give this a bad rating are probably judging it song by song vs. listening to the whole album and feeling the experience they are trying to convey through their music..... simply great

The review isnt bad, but this album is awesome. In the end, it's a matter of personal opinion.

I hear an album filled with half-thought out ideas and forced together jam sessions that don't provide any cohesion as a whole whatsoever.

IMO it works better as a collection of songs anyway.

this album is seriously lacking in distinctiveness, its all an unorganized mesh of ideas.

Crack the skye is an absolutely outstanding album. It isn't an easy one to listen to however, so one must be aware of its complexity and originality, but once you understand it, it is more than worthy of your time! One of the best albums I've got to hear in the last months! I even dare compare it to Cynic's last effort, not to say the least. The czar is quite a masterpiece!!!

BTW, if you like weed, it's a must!!! Listening to this album while toasted proved to be an amazing experience to me lol
