I won't argue that they have substance, but they're a hell of a lot of fun.

I think Enema of the State is arguably more fun than anything Green Day has done. There was a time for me that Green Day actually felt important though, and that's the difference.
I realize plenty feel the opposite; both are serviceable starter bands.

I pretty much agree with all of that

yeah it's kinda samey in places but the more you listen the more you begin to dig p much every track a lot. check insomniac next and work forward until you get to idiot. also past insomniac the albums start to get more varied

especially love when the rest of the band kicks in
instrumentals on here are tight. beneath billie's 3 or 4 powerchords mike and tre are just jamming the fuck out on pretty much every song and i love it
|
| |
I need to jam this then
|
| |
seriously what goes harder than longview's chorus
BITE MY LIPS AND CLOOOSE MY EYES

Mike had some great basslines back in the day.
|

Mike nails his parts here.

wish mike put the effort he puts in his bass lines here on their newer stuff. certainly would elevate their newer releases at least a little bit

Fuck this is go gooooooooooood

I wish I could love this as much as I did all those years ago. It's great, but most of their stuff got old for me. Insomniac is the only Green Day record I can still appreciate fully these days.
