The funny thing is I listen to classical, electronic, and screamo.

There's no correlation between musical taste and intelligence.

And I would wager that if someone did a study of people who listen to screamo versus those who listen to classical music or good electronic music, you'd find that the latter are MUCH more intelligent.

If you read on with my comment I say "but that's neither here nor there" so thank you for answering the insignificant part of my comment.

Out of those artists, I've only heard Suis La Lune. And they're fucking terrible. The main screamo I've heard is Saetia, City of Caterpillar, Circle Takes the Square, Gospel, and Orchid (though Orchid is usually called "scramz" in a meaningless distinction).

LOL, Suis La Lune is terrible? You're such a tasteless douche.

And more LOLERY, first off, nobody calls any band "scramz", it's "skramz", and it's a JOKE term, just like emo-violence.

All music has the same "artistic merit". It's all art, and it's all subjective to the listener.

Get over it.

Like, the more screamo they like, the less intelligent. And vice versa with classical music

(encompassing Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Nationalist, Symbolist, and Modern music, all its

subdivisions).

You are such a retard. Baroque != classical, etc.

P.S. I'm a pianist, I don't really feel like proving credentials to you, so I'm gonna continue making

fun of you and asking you questions, thanks.

What gives something "artistic merit" then? Surely you must be able to explain this in order to make a claim like this.

It's not even something worth explaining because everyone's concept of art is different. That's like the first thing you learn at art school, IDK if you got the memo.

MJ, if you met someone who loves screamo but was also very intelligent, would you automatically assume they just like screamo to fit in?

No, I think you're the retard. In public discourse, orchestral and chamber music played on

traditional (usually European) instruments is commonly referred to as classical music. Within this

blanket term, there were "ages" of orchestral and chamber music. There were Baroque composers like

Bach, Classical composers like Haydn and Mozart, Romantic composers like Mendelssohn and Schubert,

Nationalist composers like Wagner or the Five of Russia, Symbolist composers like Debussy and Ravel,

and Modern composers like Stravinskii and Schoenberg.

Then my music history professor and piano teacher done been wrong. K.

And okay, so it's just total relativism. So if someone considers Crunkcore to be true art,

far more artistic than any other music that's ever been written, his opinion is just as legitimate

as someone who thinks that Brahms' German Requiem is great art? This is ridiculous.

If someone honestly believes that, then they honestly believe that. You disagreeing doesn't mean

anything.

Also, you can say just as much you've been in such fewer words, it's ego-maniacal pseudo-

intellectuals like yourself that spurred me to switch majors/schools.

Probably. The smart ones who like it are usually just young. To be honest, almost everyone

who was my age and into this shit has grown out of it completely and never listen to it anymore. In

fact, they're usually embarrassed by the fact that they used to like it

Most of the kids in the tri-state area who don't like emo anymore never really liked it in the first

place. For the most part anyhow. I remember going to so many shows when I was younger and just

seeing kids standing in the back texting and not paying any attention. The majority of those kids

can now be found on Bedford Ave in Brooklyn, drinking joose and riding fixed-gear bikes, verbally

assaulting anyone who's not politically correct enough for their tastes.

I remember going to so many shows and seeing better local acts open for bigger bands, and half the

kids would be asking where the bands were from because they were so ignorant to the actual screamo

scene other than what they were told to listen to by Ryan Rejoinder on youtube.

Now they listen to Wavves and dubstep, next year they'll discover death metal or jazz or something, who knows.
