My only gripe with this album at the moment is that I don't feel anything towards some of the parts that I know should be real emotional, so it seems to fail at conveying the feeling at times.

This album is better than anything Opeth has released in the past 7 years. Gooooooooooood joke
ohhh man so i just noticed the riff 3:20 into black lodge that angel loves so much is like a blatant rip off from opeth's bleak at 1:20 I can kind of see that actually Opeth's has a little more thrown into it though.

Yeah, this is better than about half of Opeth's albums, and about as good as most of the others. I like Still Life and Watershed more, but that's about it. Maybe MAYH

and Ghost Reveries. Ghost of Perdition is probably my favorite Opeth song, but the rest of the album didn't impress me that much. Nothing on here is better than GoP, but basically everything else is better than the rest of GR.

I think MAYH, SL, BWP, Damnation are better/equal but this beats the rest.

Even though I like these guys alot, they don't offer as many dynamics in their music as Opeth does and therefore, they will never come close to the magnitude of what Opeth has achieved over the last 18 years.
Anyways, 'In the Failing Hour' has such smooth tranisistions between the verses and choruses. Favourite song on the album, despite it being the least complicated of the 8 songs on here.
