"i like the song the first 2 mins of the song is just 1 riff repeated over and over and over and over and over and over"

For Opeth, that could refer to about half their songs lol

But the brutal heaviness featured on Deliverance just totally fails at expressing the emotions behind each of the songs.

[...]
That virtually every song found on Deliverance also sounds a good five to seven minutes longer than it should doesn't exactly help its case.

The heaviness and the length are the most important aspects of the album. They both contribute to give an impression of captivity and suffocation as if you were confined with no possible escape (or Deliverance). For me the goal of the album is not to convey emotions but rather to mark an opposition with Damnation. I've always thought that both albums were working together.

I love the production of this album.. it's very dry and that's I think what turns people off from it.

^^ What does that statement even mean? They share an office? Is Deliverance Damnation's boss? The fuck?

I see the "point" that you are trying to make, "One's heavy and one's soft, thus they make up for each other's shortcomings" but this isn't a double album. That'd be like saying "Blood Mountain sucked, but its okay because Leviathan was so good. They're working together you guys."

Not my favorite album by Mike and company, but Master's Apprentices rules as hell.
