Came across Sun of Nothing and Prequel to the Sequel on random on my ipod, two amazing songs. I'm floating, floating...

Listening to White Walls right now. One of the sickest tracks on here.

I just bought this yesterday, and ive listened through it. The album is amazing, BUT ITS TOO FUCKING LONG
And this is a statement coming from a huge Mars Volta/Opeth fan :/

Yeah, it is a bit lengthy. Still, the quality of the music cannot be overlooked.

Anyone else find the Tommy's growling vocals, the style he uses most often, unappealing. Every time he uses a different style of vocals I like it a lot more and find his growling to be more and more boring. IMO, he should utilize the style from Prequel to the Sequel around the 6:30 mark a lot more. Any other style he uses is better i believe. Anyone agree?

Great album, overrated, but still great.
Only problem is, I find it really inconsistent, there are moments on it where I just think, 'wow, this in amazing', but there are other moments where I just think 'meh'.
I guess I need to let it grow on me a bit.

I'm really liking every song except track #2, which is still pretty good. I love the Mr. Bungle-esque breakdowns and genre crosses.
|
| |
The genre crosses are the worst moments of the album. :o

No, it means they aren't boring, and that they destroy everyone else.
|
| |
Switching genres isn't going to make a boring band any less boring.
|
| |
Yes, I wrote this album.

So I need not elaborate!

Bahahahahaha!!!
Since you two seem to be the geniuses behind what makes this album boring, elaborate.
This album is nothing new, Between The Buried and me has become a horrible letdown and have been re-releasing "weirder" and more "varied" versions of The Silent Circus, and it's disgusting. The fact that this involves some of the musicians responsible for The Rain In The Endless Fall, The Closet, Between The Buried And Me, and The Silent Circus baffles me, because didn't they used to care about writing music rather than selling records based on, "HEY WE'RE CONFUSING AND VARIED AND ECLECTIC."

I don't find the album boring at all, i find it to be a great listen. It's just that i think his growls are at times very uninspired-sounding. Every other style feels like he is putting everything into it but his growls seem forced. I guess im tryin to eat my cake and have it rock my face off as well. Still a great listen but it would be much better with less growls more singing/yelling imo. This Message Edited On 12.23.07
