that modulation at the end of Dark Chest of Wonders might be my all-time favorite. sonically, it turns a lighthearted progression into a darkly majestic one -- we've been dreaming about the titular chest of wonder, but that sonic plot twist illuminates the ominous implications of opening it. changing the tonal center of the song with 30 seconds to go suggests there is no going back; Pandora's Box is open. just a brilliant way to use songwriting to paint a concept.
