I agree with you sonically, but lyrically Ocean is pretty depressing.

Love that track, great break-up tune. But yeah, pretty Villains-y, but then again so is Smooth Sailing

if ocean and sailing were on villains it might actually be a halfway decent record

Seeing this thread bumped forced me to spontaneously re-jam this and I had to bump it back to a 5. It's too good
Even though I enjoy Villains for the most part, listening to this makes it seem way more disappointing by comparison

I actually don't love the S/T. But jam Lullabies, definitely has the most ear wormy but weird songs.

S/T is almost on par with their classics though. Not as diverse of an album but it has some of the best riffs I've ever heard

If Only, Walkin' on the Sidewalks, How to Handle a Rope and You Can't Quit Me Baby are my favorite tunes from that album. Lots of tasty riffs there.

Sweet pro shot QOTSA concert at Northside Fest from yesterday. Kinda made me wanna check Villains again and see what's up.

I just listened to QOTSA's whole discography recently after not listening to it for a while, and man, what a band. And my opinion of this album has been a bit of a rollercoaster over the years, but after this last listen it's definitely gained more approval from me. The lyrics are pretty great on this album as well. I still don't enjoy it the way I enjoy all the albums previous to this, but nonetheless... It's definitely a much higher quality piece of music than Villains is, though I don't hate that one as much as I did when it came out. Still a lot about it I don't like, though.
