The more I listen to Gore the more I'm enjoying it. Pretty much all of the tracks have something going for them, although there are some that definitely stand out more. Overall I'd give it a 4 at least.

obviously gonna have to listen again but based on first listen this is their worst LP yet

best song (hearts/wires or phantom bride) would still only be the 4th or 5th best on KNY

wow anarchistfish shares my exact same feelings.

it's such a shame.... I'm wishing they would of just let stephen carpenter write some real riffs. It might not of been better but i think it would of been more interesting

i don't care whether something actually sounds like shit or not but if an album bores me i'm not gonna give it a good rating

So many songs feel like they are on cruise control and there isn't really any surprises to be found either. While I think the overall sound of Gore is slightly different for deftones, song writing wise it mostly reeks of been there, done that.

I think that is part of the reason why i enjoy hearts/wires and phantom bride the most because they are somewhat experimental.

I wish deftones could afford to take time off to just record for an extended period. They could of been like "aight steph how about you take the backseat and we make this chill album called Gore and then we make a heavy album where we let you write a bunch of nasty riffs"

at least it's making me consider bumping this. Tempest, Swerve City, Leathers all fantastic songs

You should bump tbh. Even though Koi is a mixed bag at least it has its share of highlights.

Tempest fuckin' sucks and is honestly one of the worst songs they've ever written.

How exactly is Hearts/Wires experimental? It sounds like Gore's version of "Rosemary." It's a decent song but I don't hear anything really out of the box there. I would argue that Geometric Headdress or the title track have more interesting things going on in them.

I can't think of any deftones song that use's the same kind of percussion used in Hearts/Wires let alone one where the vox don't come in all the way till over a minute and a half of the song has played.

Geometric Headdress has such a average chorus and the ending of Gore is like a poor mans Bloody Cape.

How is Tempest awful

Like it's obviously not their best but it's a jam.

Chino's trying way to hard with the vox on the new one. Fucker sounds like Maynard in the worst way possible.

FFS the whole damn thing sounds like an even edgier version of Tool
