>The band’s mix of chordal picking and fingerpicking would put even the most accomplished folk musicians to shame.
chat is this true?

reference to "folk" in a chan review written before taylor swift's career had taken off = bet

this sounds like brave murder day with less doom and more trems
and yes im aware of its seniority status.

not a fan of this subgenre, but this album is slowly converting me
do these guys have an album combining metal and triphop
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
No lol. But if you want trip hop then jam Perdition City its one of the best albums of all time regardless of genre.

i checked it out, it’s a bit hard to get into because the songwriting is a bit formless, but it definitely sounds cool

The opening track might be one of the most recognizable in all of metal. Whole album rules.

this used to be my fav album in a spiritual way but then something clicked and it began to sound kinda juvenile and the elegance just melted away
thats actually kind of happened with all of ulvers material
except nattens that one always sounded juvenile
i think war of the roses and teachings hold up

these guys were basically teens when they made this right? insane

Album Rating: 4.5
Wars of the Roses YES!!!!!!!!!!
|
| |
probs more truth than not in that budgie comment tbh
these days the Ulver I'd go for is either their most mature (Messe, Shadows) or so cracked out that juvenalia is just part of the ride (Blood Inside, Nattens)
Perdition City is still great, but takes itself far too seriously for its goofs to land as they should, Teachings would probs land in the mature appeal pile if I listened to it more though hmmmm
