I think due to me almost never reading lyrics, I get more out of concept albums when
a.) It's a clean vocalist
b.) There are "skits"
But I'm about halfway through, and just the music itself is going to warrant a high rating form me.

I feel the same way; I don't normally care about lyrics unless I can immediately understand them, and even then they're usually just something I sing along to without thought. I'm intrigued enough by this album to check them out though.

I said it before, and I'll stand by what I said: as far as I'm concerned, Mikael Akerfeldt is one of the best rock or metal lyricists out there. His ability to really paint such a vivid picture to match the music he writes is one of his greatest gifts as an artist. Honestly, as much as I adore this album for its music, the lyrics are one of the things that really propel it to that classic 5/5 status
